Dr. Chris Metro ND, MSOM, LAc
Dr. Metro developed an interest in natural medicine early in life while growing up in Buffalo, New York. Nutritional and herbal medicines were introduced to him by his grandmother at an early age, and a later introduction to homeopathic medicine cultivated his first deep interest in the field of natural medicine.
Since both his father and grandfather were chemists, it was natural for him to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He went on to specialize in silicate, chlor-alkali and petroleum based derivatives while working for Occidental Chemical Corporation. His work provided him with a wide range of experiences in many fields of manufacturing throughout the US. During this time he continued to pursue his interest in natural medicine by completing course work at the New England School of Homeopathy, which inspired his desire to pursue further study at the National College of Natural Medicine.
Dr. Metro completed his Doctorate in Naturopathic medicine and his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM). During his tenure at NCNM, he received special clinical experience in addiction treatment and infectious diseases by completing internship programs at Portland Alternative Health Center, De Paul Treatment Youth Center, Outside In and Dignity Village. He developed his interest and experience with difficult and recalcitrant diseases at the Immune Enhancement Program of the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Metro has traveled and studied throughout China working extensively with the respected Daoist elder Prof. Wang Qingyu of the Sichuan Acadamy of Cultural History and Prof. Liu Lihong of Guangxi Institute for Research and Preservation of Classical Chinese Medicine. He has worked with Prof. Heiner Fruehauf, founder of the Classical Chinese medicine department at NCNM, to establish an online film archive of interviews and lectures from experts in mainland China. Currently, Dr. Metro practices at the clinic on Mondays.
Dr. Marcus Coplin, ND
This is Dr. Coplin’s first time living in Portland, but he is no stranger to the Northwest. During his time at Hampshire, Dr. Coplin became licensed as a biofeedback physical therapist. Later on, he attended Bastyr University in Washington to earn his ND with a focus on physiotherapy and botanical medicine. Following the completion of his formal education, Dr. Coplin completed advanced clinical work in IV therapy and Naturopathic Oncology care, then studied Athroposophic Oncology at the Ita Wegman Clinic in Donarch, Switzerland.
Dr. Coplin returned to the east coast to practice in New York City, later leaving to pursue a research sabbatical in Eastern Europe and the Near East, studying at a variety of Physiotherapy and Balneology-based Hospitals throughout the region.
After all of these experiential adventures, Dr. Coplin returned to San Francisco to operate one practice focused on physiotherapy, as well as a separate practice in Berkeley focused on IV therapy.
Dr. Coplin is a board member of the Balneology Association of North America, and he is the North American representative to International Society of Medical Hydrology and Climatology. He has worked with Dr. Blake over the years, and he is so excited to explore Portland’s rich culture and experience the Oregon wilderness.
Dr. Christine Kadykalo, ND
Dr. Kadykalo, also known as "Dr. K" hails from Toronto, Canada, and earned her B.S. Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa. Dr. K completed her internship with us in early 2018 and now joins our medical staff to help see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beyond medicine, she is also interested in sports, music, and travel.
